Police in Mansa of Luapula Province have arrested three suspects, who had escaped from lawful custody on Saturday after overpowering police officers on duty.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has since identified those arrested as Prince Chinyanta who was charged with Rape and Aggravated Robbery, Ephraim Kombe charged with Robbery and Sidney Musongole who was facing a charge of Theft.

Ms Katongo says all the suspects have been charged with Escape from lawful custody contrary to section 119 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

She says a man hunt has continued.
