Zambians urged to venture into entrepreneurship

Copperbelt University Professor of Economics John Lungu has urged Zambians to venture into entrepreneurship and not wholly rely on government for jobs.

Professor Lungu said there are many entrepreneurship opportunities in Zambia that people can engage in in order to reduce on the backlog of unemployment in the country.

’’If you look at the problem of waste management in our country and compare it to other countries, you will discover that countries like Ethiopia are using garbage particularly plastics to produce electricity, this can be replicated in Zambia by serious entrepreneurs,’’ he said.

Professor Lungu who was accompanied by 10 MBA students from CBU was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Embassy of the Republic of Zambia in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia , Charge ‘’de’’ Affaires John Chisanga.

Professor Lungu further said complaints that government policies where not adequate to support investments were difficult to prove as other Zambians were succeeding in entrepreneurship under the same policies.

He said the establishment of an entrepreneurial centre at CBU was testimony of the importance of entrepreneurship for National development.

And Zambia Embassy in Ethiopia, Charge ‘D’ Affaires John Chisanga said the future of Zambia’s development was in the hands of young people.

He said youths must come up with innovate business that can create jobs for themselves and others.

Mr. Chisanga commended CBU for creating an entrepreneurial centre that would encourage many people to venture in entrepreneurship after graduating from schools.

This is according to a statement issued to Money FM News by Embassy of the Republic of Zambia, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia First Secretary – Press/Tourism Inutu Mwanza.
