State Police in the company of local villagers are searching for the body of a 19 year old pupil who drowned on Lake Kariba yesterday in Siavonga District.

And Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama has identified the deceased as Junior Kalela of Kambiobio village of Chief Simamba’s Chiefdom.

Mr. Kanyama narrates that the incident happened at around 09hrs yesterday due to heavy waves on Lake Kariba when he in the company of his friends went fishing.

He says last night a combined team of state police and local villagers were on the lake searching for the body and the search continues today.

Mr. Kanyama says fishermen and other people using the lake for transport must seriously mind the waves on the lake.

He laments that the district has continued recording death incidents on Lake Kariba.
