• The temporal shortage of beverage products on the market poses a challenge.
• 10days closure of the Lusaka Zambia Breweries plant.
Bars and Night Club Owners Association of Zambia says the temporal shortage of beverage products on the market is posing a challenge to business entities as most drinks are either out of stock or being purchased at a higher price.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Association President Peter Mwale noted that the situation has forced most of the bar owners across the country to also increase prices of selected beverage products in order to meet their usual profit revenues.
Mr .Mwale however stated that the temporal shortage is as a result of a 10day closure of the Lusaka plant belonging to the country’s largest beverage firm to allow supply expansion works.
“For us as bar owners and night club owners to access the products from Zambian Breweries we are having a challenge, only a few distributors that can access those products are now selling at abnormal prices, so now how do you expect us to sell at a lower price,?”
“In some cases we have a serious shortage and Zambia Breweries now called us to explain the shortage and they categorically assured us that the reason why there is a shortage is because they are trying to expand their production line which we appreciate and understand the initiative by the company,” Mr. Mwale said.
He further said the Association is not happy with the manner in which distributors are conducting themselves in the delivery of beverage products on the market as they are exploiting customers with exorbitant prices on selected drinks.
Zambian Breweries recently announced a 10day closure of the Lusaka plant to allow supply expansion works in an effort to improve the distribution chain across the country.
