The Southern Africa Cross Border Traders Association has reiterated a call to the Southern African Development Community to engage the South African government to resolve threats against foreign truck drivers travelling to South Africa for business.
Association Chairman Jacob Makambwe is concerned that there have been repeated threats towards foreign truck drivers, a situation he says has a potential to paralyze trade in the Southern African region.
Mr. Makambwe tells Money FM in an interview that South Africa which is one of Zambia’s major trade partners in the region should ensure that trade between the two nations is not affected by ongoing threats.
The Zambia’s High Commission in Pretoria on Monday this week issued a travel advisory warning its citizens in the trucking business to avoid travelling to South Africa on 2nd September, 2019 amid threats of violence.
