The Cross Boarder Traders Association has expressed concern at the decision by the Zambian Government to ban trade between Zambia and Zimbabwe following an outbreak of Cholera in neighboring Zimbabwe.
The association has since called on the Ministry of Health in Zambia and Zimbabwe to agree and come up with good Cholera prevention measures at the border post prevent the disease from spreading in Zambia.
Association General Secretary Jacob Makambwe says the decision by the Zambian government to completely ban trade between the two countries has been done in bad faith.
He says it is for this reason that the two ministries of health should arrive at ways to curb the disease and ensure that trade between the two countries continues.
Mr. Makambwe has told Money FM News via telephone that the complete ban of trade between the two countries will impact negatively on the livelihood for both Zambian traders as well as those from Zimbabwe.
He cites that most people who engage in business between the two countries are those with small capital which they need to sustain by constantly trading.
He fears that if the ban is prolonged most small scale traders engaged in various business in the two countries may pull out of business.
He says the time Zambia was affected by Cholera Zimbabwe did not ban trade between the two countries because it had put up strong prevention measures at the border.
