Two people have died on the spot after being knocked down by a Hino Truck in a hit-and-run accident in Siavonga District of Southern Province.

The accident happened yesterday along the Siavonga bottom road.

And Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama has identified the deceased as Best Lusonde aged 29 and Elina Chibolyo aged 33, both of Mapepe village of Siavonga district.

Mr. Kanyama has since urged Siavonga state police to ensure that they hunt down the driver who knocked down the two in the district.

He says the truck driver should have stopped after hitting the deceased or better still report himself to the police if he was afraid of mob justice than running away.

“Road users using the bottom road are urged to seriously observe the curved road so as to avoid the continued road accidents on this same road,” he has advised.

Mr. Kanyama says his office will engage the contractor who was contracted to work on the bottom road to clear the tree branches that are almost obstructing road users.

He says the road in question is still in the hands of the contractor, as it has not yet been handed over to Government.
