The construction of the US$115 million Momboshi Dam in Chisamba District in Central Province has been completed.
Central Province Permanent secretary Chanda Kabwe says construction works of the dam in has reached hundred percent.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News by telephone, Mr. Kabwe says the irrigation dam has been completed eight months before the projected timeframe of three years.
He says the dam is expected to be handed over to government by the contractor this November.
He says once completed, the dam will enable small scale farmers to engage in irrigation activities.
He says the dam will also create employment for the locals and will result in the alleviation of poverty.
World Bank disbursed about US$115 million for the construction of a dam under the Irrigation Development and Support Project -ISDP.
Construction of the dame began in February 2017 and was expected to be completed in a time frame of three years.
