Deferred sales tax implementation date was expected – ZAM

The Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) says the postponing of the implementation date of the sales tax by government was expected.
Association President Roseta Chabala says that is what was submitted by the manufacturers as it only makes sense to implement something that has been fully discussed with stakeholders.
She was speaking in a telephone interview with Money FM News via telephone.
Finance Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe has announced that the government has proposed 1st July, 2019 to start the implementation of Sales Tax.
This was after the government, through her ministry, failed to start the implementation of Sales Tax on 1st April, 2019 which will replace the Value Added Tax (VAT).
Mrs. Mwanakatwe has told parliament in a ministerial statement that the Sales Tax Bill will be taken to parliament next week Tuesday for the first reading.
