Home Affairs justifies $5m Chibombo housing project

The Ministry of Home Affairs has explained that the 5 million US dollars that was spent on the Chibombo housing project included external works relating to the 38 houses that were constructed.
Ministry Public Relations Officer Nephas Chifuta says the projects includes Drilling and Equipping of Boreholes and Steel elevated panelled water tanks, Electrical transformer and associated works and Reinforced concrete rigid pavement roads among others.
Mr. Chifuta says this in response to reports questioning the cost spent on the named project.
He says the Ministry of Home Affairs like all Government departments contracts out work through town transparent processes.
Mr. Chifuta adds that the Chibombo Housing Project compromise of 38 housing units built at a cost of about US $5 Million dollars including 28 Medium and 10 Low cost housing units.
Government signed a contract in December, 2015, with AVIC International Holding Corporation to construct 2, 350 Housing Units.
The houses are part of the 12, 000 housing units required for the Security Wings under its Ministry.
