Law and Order important for development -Lungu

Republican President Edgar Lungu has emphasized the importance of Law and order to a country’s investments and national development.
President Lungu says without law and order, no investments can be achieved for development.
He was speaking at the Paramilitary Battalion Headquarters in Lilayi, Lusaka district when he commissioned and handed over 82 newly constructed paramilitary housing units for men and women in uniform.
The Head of State has called on the Police officers to ensure that Zambia remains the beacon of Peace in Africa in order for it to flourish.
President Lungu says that government will continue to eradicate the lack of accommodation for the police service and has reiterated that his administration will continue to improve their living conditions to motivate the officers even further.
The housing units are in a phased manner to avoid overstretching the Treasury and in line with the fiscal consolidation being implemented by the Ministry of Finance.
Under the phase one (I) of the Ministry of Home Affairs Housing Project, AVIC International Corporation has been tasked to construct 2350 housing units across the board.
The housing units are part of the 12 000 housing units that government has earmarked for construction.
As at December 31, 2018, One Thousand and Eighty Five (1085) Housing Units had been constructed across the country.
